Description
Ruine Schauenburg is a fascinating 10th century castle ruin located on a hill overlooking the Rench River valley.
Built by Duke Berthold II of Zähringen, the castle impresses with the remains of two residential towers, a gate tower and a shield wall with a chapel. Climbing the old walls, you can explore small rooms and enjoy picturesque views of the surrounding vineyards.
There is a small museum in the basement of the former castle chapel, and a restaurant nearby where you can relax after exploring. Admission is free, making this place ideal for a family trip full of history and nature.
