Royal Sussex Memorial

Royal Sussex Memorial is an impressive memorial to the soldiers of the Royal Sussex Regiment who died during various military campaigns, including the Second Boer War and in colonial India.

Designed by William Goscombe John, the memorial consists of an octagonal granite base with bronze reliefs depicting soldiers in action and a statue of a young officer in the uniform of the Bengal Regiment.

The commemorative plates include information about campaigns such as the Black Mountain Expedition of 1888 and the Tirah Campaign of 1897-98, providing a fascinating lesson in military history.
