Description

Phanom Rung Historical Park is a spectacular temple complex from the Khmer Empire period, built between the 10th and 13th centuries on the edge of an extinct volcano. The pink sandstone towers are decorated with intricate carvings depicting scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Three Naga bridges with carved snakes, symbolizing the boundary between heaven and earth, lead to the impressive 23-meter main tower. The temple was designed so that during the equinox, the sun's rays penetrate through the central part of the sanctuary.

This is a place where history comes alive amid extraordinary architecture and Hindu mythology.
