Description
Penascosa Prehistoric Rock-Art Site (UNESCO World Heritage) is a unique place where time stopped 30,000 years ago. Discover fascinating Paleolithic drawings carved into the shale rock, depicting aurochs, horses, deer and goats.
This is one of the oldest and best-preserved examples of outdoor cave art in the world. The site was discovered in the 1990s during the construction of a dam on the Côa River, and its exceptional historical value caused the dam project to be abandoned.
Explore the lives and artistic expressions of Paleolithic people at this magical site, which is part of the larger Côa Valley Archaeological Park.
