Description
The Lloyd Palace is a unique historical monument located in the heart of Timișoara. This eclectic building, combining Baroque and Art Nouveau elements, was designed by Hungarian architect Lipót Baumhorn between 1910 and 1912.
It once housed the German military during World War I, and the first floor was home to the famous Lloyd Café, a popular meeting place for the city's elite, where concerts and artistic performances were held.
Today the palace serves as the headquarters of the Rectorate of Timișoara Polytechnic University. The Senate Hall has regained its former splendor and is a venue for academic and cultural events.
