Description
Cherhill White Horse is one of the oldest chalk figures in England, created in 1780 by Dr. Christopher Alsop. This impressive figure of a horse, 50 meters long and 30 meters high, was carved into the hillside of Cherhill Down in an unusual way - the creator directed the work from afar, using a megaphone!
It is the third oldest white horse in Britain, visible from the A4 road. The surrounding chalk grasslands are home to rare plants and animals, making the site an important ecological spot.
The hike to the top takes about 30 minutes and rewards you with beautiful views of the Wiltshire countryside.
