Description
The Kretzulescu Church is one of Bucharest's most beautiful monuments, built between 1720 and 1722 in the distinctive Brincan style.
This Orthodox church impresses with its brick facade and original 18th century frescoes in the vestibule, while the interior is decorated with paintings by Gheorghe Tattarescu from 1859-1860.
The church survived the 1940 earthquake and plans for demolition during the communist period. Today, it is not only a testament to Romania's turbulent history, but also a unique example of sacred architecture that will delight art and history lovers.
