Description
Cadbury Hillfort is a fascinating archaeological site located atop a limestone hill in Somerset. Encircled by ramparts and moats, this ancient fort was inhabited from the Neolithic through the Bronze and Iron Ages and into the Roman and Roman-Roman periods.
The site is associated with the legend of King Arthur and his court at Camelot, which adds to its mysterious charm. Many valuable artifacts have been discovered here during excavations, including the first Bronze Age shield in northwestern Europe.
From the top of the hill, there are magnificent views of the Somerset Levels and Glastonbury Tor, making the site ideal for lovers of history and beautiful scenery.
