Description
Blaenavon Ironworks is the best-preserved 18th-century ironworks in Western Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This unique industrial monument offers a fascinating journey back in time to the era of the Industrial Revolution. Here you can see the ironworks furnaces, the 1839 water balancing tower and authentically furnished workers' houses.
The site also witnessed the groundbreaking invention of the 'Thomas' process, which revolutionized the global steel industry. The scale models and exhibits perfectly illustrate the hard life of the mining families made famous by the popular TV series 'Coal House'.
