Description
Câlnic (Kelling) Castle is a fascinating fortress from the 13th century, being one of the last noble castles in Transylvania.
Built around 1270 by Count Chyl of Kelling, the structure was fortified with a massive Siegfried tower, surrounded by a wall and moat. Today, as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers an unforgettable historical experience.
The Siegfried Tower houses a museum depicting the lifestyle of the local Saxons. The castle chapel impresses with fresco fragments from the 16th century and a wooden platform decorated with panels in folk-Renaissance style from 1733.
