Description
Burghausen Castle is the longest castle complex in the world, stretching more than 1,051 meters along a narrow mountain ridge. This Gothic fortification with five large courtyards impresses with its monumental architecture and rich history.
As the second residence of the Lower Bavarian princes between 1255 and 1503, the castle conceals three fascinating museums: the House of Photography, the City Museum and the State Collection with furniture, tapestries and sculptures from the late Gothic and early Renaissance.
The rooftop viewing platform offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, the picturesque Wöhrsee lake and colorful Inn-Salzach-style townhouses.
