The Ulm City Walls are a fascinating historical monument that combines rich history with natural beauty. Erected just before 1480, they stood directly on the Danube River, as evidenced by the iron rings still visible in the walls.
Walking along the walls, you can enjoy the beautiful gardens on one side and the Danube River meadows on the other. It's the perfect place for a relaxing stroll overlooking the city.
Don't miss the leaning Metzgerturm tower, a 36-meter-high structure dating back to 1349 that leaned due to rotting tree trunks in the foundations. It is one of the few elements of the fortifications that survived Napoleon's 1800 order to demolish the fortifications.
