Uffington Castle

Uffington Castle is a fascinating early Iron Age fort located on White Horse Hill. This unique D-shaped fortification is surrounded by a wide chalk rampart and moat, concealing a rich history of Iron Age settlement and Roman influence.

Archaeological excavations have revealed two phases of rampart construction and traces of ceremonial and residential activities. The site is part of a larger complex of ancient remains, including the famous chalk White Horse of Uffington and Dragon Hill, associated with the legend of St. George.
