Description
The statue of Robert the Bruce is an impressive stone sculpture, standing on the esplanade of Stirling Castle. Made between 1876 and 1877 by Andrew Currie, it depicts the legendary king of Scotland in chainmail, with his hand resting on the hilt of a sword.
The monument faces the battlefield at Bannockburn, where Bruce won a key victory over the English in 1314.
It's a great place for Scottish history buffs to feel the spirit of the fight for independence. The detailed workmanship, metal elements like the axe and sword, and the shield with the Lion of Champlain add to the sculpture's unique character.
