Description

The Bartolomeo Colleoni monument in Venice is one of the finest examples of Renaissance equestrian sculpture. Created by Andrea del Verrocchio between 1479 and 1488, it commemorates the famous Italian condottieri.

The impressive bronze statue impresses with its realism and attention to detail - from the horse's muscles to the dynamic pose of the rider leading the troops into battle.

The statue was originally intended to stand in St. Mark's Square, but was eventually placed in Campo San Zanipolo, where it remains today one of Venice's most important monuments and a testament to the craftsmanship of the Renaissance masters.
