Partenon

Partenon is an ancient Greek temple dedicated to the goddess Athena, representing the pinnacle of classical Greek architecture.

This majestic building with Doric columns impresses with its proportions and craftsmanship. The marble sculptures and frieze decorating the temple depict mythological scenes related to Athena.

Over the centuries, the Parthenon has served various functions - from the treasury of the Delphic Union, to a Christian church, to a mosque. Despite much damage, including a gunpowder explosion in 1687, it remains a symbol of ancient Greece and its cultural heritage.
