Description
Newgrange is a fascinating Neolithic passage tomb in the Boyne Valley, older than Stonehenge and the pyramids at Giza.
Dating back to 3200 BC, this impressive structure impresses with a 19-meter-long corridor leading to the burial chamber and 97 curb stones decorated with spiral patterns.
The most unusual feature is the precise astronomical setting - during the winter solstice, the sun's rays illuminate the chamber's interior for several minutes. In Irish mythology, Newgrange was believed to be the seat of deities, including Dagda and his son Aengus.
