Description

National Trust - Ankerwycke Yew is one of the oldest living organisms in Britain. This majestic yew tree is between 1,400 and 2,500 years old and has witnessed many historical events.

According to legend, under its boughs in 1215 the Magna Carta, a document that was the foundation of English democracy, was signed. It is also the place where Henry VIII is said to have met with Anne Boleyn in the 1630s.

The impressive trunk girth of 8 meters and twisted branches create an amazing setting, perfect for history, nature and photography enthusiasts.
