Gammelstad is a unique UNESCO-listed church town located near Luleå, Sweden. It impresses with its medieval character with more than 400 red and white wooden cottages that once served as temporary shelters for worshippers from the surrounding villages.
At the heart of the complex is the 15th century Nederluleå stone church, the only brick building in the area. Walking through the narrow streets, you will feel the atmosphere of the old days and learn about the fascinating history of Scandinavian church towns.
