Description
Fiskerkona is an impressive 4.5-meter-tall 'Fisherman's Wife' statue located at the end of the breakwater in Svolvær. The work of famous sculptor Per Ung symbolizes the hardships and anxieties of Lofoten fishermen's wives.
The statue depicts a woman awaiting her husband's return, with a shawl on her head and a raised hand to protect her from the wind.
Walking to the statue, you can enjoy spectacular views of the Lofoten mountains and the open sea, as well as see the fish drying houses (full from March to June) and traces of World War II.
