Description
Eigerøy Lighthouse is Norway's oldest cast-iron lighthouse, built between 1853 and 1854. This impressive 32.9-meter-high structure, with 134 steps leading to the top, is a remarkable monument to technology and maritime history.
The lighthouse emits three white flashes every 30 seconds, which can be seen from a distance of nearly 35 kilometers. The surrounding area offers excellent conditions for birdwatching, fishing, shell collecting and crabbing.
The possibility to stay overnight in the former lighthouse keeper's house (for groups of up to 12 people) and scenic hiking trails through unique rock formations that are 930 million years old are additional attractions of this unique place.
