Description
Dutch Quarter is a unique district in Potsdam, where 134 red brick buildings with white shutters transport you back to the 18th century. Built between 1733 and 1740 at the behest of Frederick William I, it was intended to attract Dutch craftsmen.
The house of Jan Bouman, the district's architect, functions today as a museum showcasing the lives of Dutch settlers.
Strolling through the narrow, cobblestone streets, one can discover charming cafes, galleries and stores, and feel the unusual blend of Dutch and Prussian culture.
