Description
Castillo de San Cristobal is an impressive fortification dating back to 1578, built on the initiative of King Philip II as protection against naval attacks.
Situated on a rock covered with mortar, this circular castle has retained its original essence since the 15th century despite numerous expansions. It is characterized by a square floor plan, yellow walls made of hewn stone and colorful towers where guards set up their observation posts.
As a site recognized as a Historic and Artistic Monument in 1941, it is now home to the Martín Chirino Foundation for Art and Thought.
