Description
Bratton Camp & White Horse is a fascinating historical monument that impresses with its rich past. This ancient Iron Age fort, built more than 2,000 years ago, hides traces of ancient homes, granaries and workshops.
The biggest attraction is the famous white horse carved into the hillside - the oldest of its kind in Wiltshire, measuring 108 feet from nose to tail. According to legend, it commemorates King Alfred the Great's victory over the Danes in 878.
The site also offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and is home to rare species of butterflies and plants.
