Description
Boxgrove Priory is a medieval Benedictine abbey dating back to the 12th century that impresses with its rich history and architecture.
The unique combination of stone and flint creates a fascinating structure where you can admire French influences, Tudor roses and Renaissance carvings.
The surviving ruins of the guest house, fragments of the chapter house and cloisters take you back to a time when monks celebrated masses for the souls of local benefactors. The eastern part of the church survived the dissolution of the monasteries in 1537 and still serves as a parish church today.
