Description

Bayham Old Abbey is a fascinating 13th century monastery ruin set in picturesque grounds on the Kent/Sussex border.

Built of local sandstone, the abbey impresses with the impressive remains of its church, chapter house and 14th-century gatehouse known as the Kentish Gate. The site is famous for its elaborate stone carvings and the frames of three large windows in the nave.

The ruins are surrounded by beautiful gardens designed by famous landscape designer Humphry Repton. For lovers of history and medieval architecture, this is a real treat!
