Description
Arc de Triomphe is an impressive historical monument in Montpellier, designed by François d'Orbay and built in 1662 in honor of Louis XIV.
Its distinctive yellow-ochre hues and rich ornamentation, including medallions, bas-reliefs and the royal coat of arms in blue, make it a unique architectural landmark in the city.
It's worth climbing the 90 steps of the spiral staircase for an amazing panoramic view of the area - you can see the Palace of Justice, Foch Avenue, the bell tower of Saint Anne's Church and even the sea on the horizon.
