Ioannina Castle

Joannina Castle is one of the oldest Byzantine castles in Greece, dating back to the 6th century. It stretches over 80 hectares on Lake Pamvotida, combining Byzantine and Ottoman architecture. What makes it unique is that it is still inhabited - cobbled streets, colorful houses, and local cafes create a lively atmosphere. Within the walls are the Fethiye and Aslan Pasha mosques, the tomb of Ali Pasha, and the Byzantine Museum. Panoramic views of the lake and the Pindos Mountains are breathtaking at any time of the year.
