Description
The Lysa Mountain Causeway is a unique geological formation made of Cambrian quartzite sandstone, more than 500 million years old.
This fascinating boulder field was formed during the Pleistocene period (74,000-8,500 years ago) as a result of intense frost weathering of the sandstone.
From the viewing platform, one can enjoy an impressive panorama of the Debnia Valley and the Pokrivian range with Chelmowa Mountain. In good weather, even distant towns like Strachowice and Ostrowiec are visible.
The site is also culturally significant - there is a pagan cult rampart dating back to the 7th-11th centuries, which separated sacred sites from the surrounding area.
