Description

The Ehrenbreitstein Fortress is an impressive fortress with a fascinating history dating back to the 4th millennium BC.

Developed by the Prussians between 1817 and 1828, it is the second largest surviving fortress in Europe. The massive walls, deep moats and tunnels bear witness to the extraordinary engineering craftsmanship of the time.

The wooden observation platform offers a spectacular view of Koblenz and where the Rhine and Moselle rivers connect. The fortress also offers exhibitions of photography, food, archaeology and regional history, as well as an underground light and sound installation depicting 3,000 years of history.
