Description
Frauenalb Monastery is a fascinating historical monument dating back to the 12th century, founded by the Counts of Eberstein as an exclusive Benedictine monastery for the daughters of noble families.
Of the original complex, only the monastery church, built between 1404 and 1406, remains, as a fire in 1508 destroyed most of the buildings.
Today, the monastery ruins are perfectly preserved and managed by a foundation. The site offers a unique atmosphere, especially with beautiful lighting. Information boards introduce you to the fascinating history of the site, and the surrounding areas of the Black Forest invite you to walk and hike.
