Description
The Donaustauf Castle Ruins is a medieval fortress built between 914 and 930, offering a fascinating journey back in time. Located on a picturesque hilltop, they provide breathtaking views of the Danube River, Regensburg and the Walhalla monument.
Preserved stone walls, arches and a chapel attest to the site's former glory. The surrounding area abounds with well-marked hiking trails, ideal for families and experienced hikers alike.
Archaeological excavations have revealed that the hill was fortified as early as around 500 BC, adding even more historical value to the site.
