Description
Gamle Bybro is a historic bridge in Trondheim, also known as the 'Gate of Happiness'. Built in 1681 by Johan Caspar von Cicignon, it provided a strategic link between the city center and the Bakklandet district.
The bridge's distinctive red wooden arches, rebuilt in 1861, create a picturesque view over the Nidelva River. The bridge gained romantic fame for its popular waltz 'Nidelven stille og vakker du er'.
It is an ideal place for lovers of photography, history and romantic walks, offering beautiful views of the colorful houses of the Bakklandet neighborhood.
