Description

Freedom Park is a charming botanical garden in the heart of Sintra, created in the 19th century by King Ferdinand II as part of his ambitious project to transform the city into a paradise on earth.

Designed in the style of an English Romantic garden by Baron von Eschwege, the park delights with a variety of flora from all over the world, which thrive thanks to the region's unique microclimate.

On its four hectares you will find numerous statues depicting figures from Portuguese history, literature and art. The park also hosts cultural events such as an outdoor summer cinema, an annual Jazz Festival and a Christmas market.
