Description
Les Invalides is an impressive 17th century complex that is a real treat for lovers of military history.
The gilded dome of the Dôme des Invalides towers over Paris as the city's tallest ecclesiastical building, adorned with 12.65 kilograms of gold. Inside is Napoleon Bonaparte's famous tomb made of red porphyry and the Army Museum with its impressive collection of 500,000 military artifacts.
This is a site that played a key role during the French Revolution - it was from here that the weapons for the assault on the Bastille on July 14, 1789 were taken!
