Description
Fontana del Porcellino is a famous Florentine fountain with a bronze boar, created by Pietro Tacca in 1612.
A charming tradition is associated with it - rubbing the boar's glistening nose is said to ensure a return to Florence, and dropping a coin into the animal's mouth brings good luck if it falls through the grate into the pool.
The fountain is located in the Loggia del Mercato Nuovo, a 16th-century marketplace where today you can buy leather goods and souvenirs. The current sculpture is a 1998 copy; the original can be admired at the Museo Stefano Bardini.

It's located on the corner of a trade fair, where you can buy clothing or souvenirs.
I recommend going early, before 9:00 a.m. local time, as later there are many tourists and tour groups trying to toss coins, and it's impossible to get close comfortably.

Nestled near the Mercato Nuovo, it’s not just a beautiful sculpture but also a symbol of good luck. Tradition says to rub the boar’s snout and drop a coin for fortune and a return to Florence. The shiny snout, worn smooth by countless visitors, adds to its charm. It’s a delightful stop in this enchanting city!
