Dürnstein Castle

Dürnstein Castle is the fascinating ruins of a medieval fortress where King Richard the Lionheart of England was imprisoned in 1192. It's a place full of legends and history that impresses with its hilltop location with breathtaking views of the Danube River and the picturesque Wachau Valley.

There are two trails leading to the castle: an easier one with information boards and a more challenging one offering spectacular views. The site is part of the UNESCO-listed Wachau Cultural Landscape, highlighting its unique historical and cultural significance.
