The Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels is a unique religious site in Assisi, surrounding the most sacred place for Franciscans - the Porziuncola chapel dating back to the 9th century.

This monumental shrine, built in Mannerist style between 1569 and 1679, hides the Transito Chapel, where St. Francis died.

The basilica's interior impresses with its simplicity and elegance, contrasting with the richly decorated side chapels and the precious wooden choir carved by the Franciscan friars since 1689.
