Description

The Dicasterial Palace is an impressive historical monument in Timișoara, built between 1855 and 1860 in the Italian Renaissance style, modeled after the Medici Palace in Florence.

This monumental building impresses with three courtyards, six gates and more than 270 offices and 160 rooms. Originally planned as the residence of the Banat governor, it later became the Palace of Justice.

The name 'Dicasterial' comes from ancient Greece, where people's courts were referred to as such. Today it houses local courts and administrative offices, and is an important part of the architecture of 'Little Vienna', as Timișoara is called.
