DAS MINSK Potsdam is a unique art museum housed in the former Minsk Terrace Restaurant, built in the 1970s in the modernist GDR style.
Renovated by the Hasso Plattner Foundation, the building impresses with its combination of historic architecture and modern functionality. The museum displays an impressive collection of art from the former GDR, including works by artists such as Wolfgang Mattheuer and Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt, often juxtaposed with contemporary art installations.
In addition to exhibitions, DAS MINSK also hosts concerts, readings and performances, creating a unique cultural experience for visitors.

Timur Dzhergeniyaa year agoThe Das Minsk museum in Potsdam offered an intriguing exploration of history and culture with its exhibition on Louis Armstrong’s tour of the GDR in the 1960s. While the exhibition provided fascinating insights into Armstrong's impact on music and diplomacy during that time, the connection to the Plattner’s private collection felt a bit forced. Nonetheless, the museum remains a worthwhile visit for its diverse offerings and thought-provoking exhibits.

John Grantham2 years agoAn interesting and lovingly restored relic of the GDR period. Worth seeing for the architecture as well as the rotating exhibitions of GDR artists. Also has a nice café.
Too bad the view of the city from the café is spoiled by the Blu swimming complex.Nearby
