Description
Mělník Castle is a historic gem of the Czech Republic that combines a rich history dating back to the 9th century with a wine-making tradition started by Emperor Charles IV.
The castle impresses with its Renaissance arcades, sgraffito and sundial on the facade. The interiors hide priceless works of art by Baroque masters, including paintings by Karel Škréta and Peter Paul Rubens.
An unusual experience is a visit to the historic wine cellars, where you can learn about the region's wine tradition associated with Princess Ludmilla, who raised her grandson - the future patron saint of Bohemia, Prince Wenceslas - here.
