Description

Agia Solomoni Catacomb is a fascinating historical monument in Paphos, Cyprus, dating to the Hellenistic period. Originally the burial place of the seven Maccabees and their mother, Agia Solomoni, who became a saint after their martyrdom.

The catacombs consist of five chambers carved into the rock, one of which has a spring. In the western chamber, one can admire the remains of 12th-century Christian wall paintings.

According to local tradition, the colorful cloths left by visitors as offerings to the saint have the power to heal. It is a unique pilgrimage site combining ancient and Christian heritage.
