The Big Fish

The Big Fish is a fascinating 10-meter high sculpture covered in ceramic mosaic, created by John Kindness in 1999. Each tile tells a piece of Belfast's history - from Tudor times to contemporary headlines.

Hidden inside the fish is a time capsule containing information, photos and poetry about the city. Children from local schools contributed to the decoration by adding their drawings.

In the evening, the sculpture is beautifully illuminated, creating a magical atmosphere. It is not only a work of art, but a symbol of hope and rebirth for the people of Belfast.
