Description
Giant Pool Balls is an impressive sculptural installation created by Claes Oldenburg in 1977 as part of the first Sculpture Projects Münster project. Three huge concrete pool balls, each 3.5 meters in diameter, are placed on terraces next to Lake Aasee.
This unique pop-art installation transforms everyday objects into monumental sculptures, encouraging creative thinking about art in public spaces. The balls also allude to the history of Münster - they refer to a cannonball embedded in the city wall and to the residents' love of hot air balloons.
