Description
Culross Abbey is a fascinating monument of medieval sacred architecture, founded in 1217 by the Earl of Fife. The Cistercian abbey was once famous for its beautiful gardens and scriptorium, where illuminated manuscripts were produced.
Modern travelers are captivated by the harmonious combination of picturesque ruins and the still functioning eastern part of the church. A special attraction is the 1642 Bruce Vault, concealing the relics of Sir George Bruce and his wife Margaret, along with the likenesses of their eight children.
It is an ideal place for lovers of history, photography and spiritual exploration.
