Cuckoo Trail (Polegate - Hailsham)

Cuckoo Trail (Polegate - Hailsham) is a scenic 14-mile path for pedestrians and bicyclists, following in the footsteps of the former Cuckoo Line railroad closed in 1968.

The route passes through a mix of deciduous woodlands, open meadows and farmland, offering seasonal field flowers such as vetch and willowbush.

Along the trail, visitors can admire dramatic sculptures and benches carved by local artisans and metal works of art. The trail provides a wildlife corridor where you can hear the distinctive sounds of the cuckoo and admire wild garlic and orchids.
