Description
Playas del Este is a picturesque string of beaches stretching nearly 6 km along the Cuban coast, just 20 minutes from Havana.
Each beach has its own unique character - Santa María del Mar impresses with its wide white sand and turquoise waters, Guanabo offers a more rustic experience, and Boca Ciega attracts Cuban families with its natural atmosphere.
Here you can swim, sunbathe or try water sports. The Gulf Stream flowing through the Florida Straits creates strong currents, so use caution when swimming.

Jose B6 years agoI've been going there for 30 years. Long beach with space for everyone: you can go to more crowded places with tourists and where you can rent umbrellas and beds, or to more empty areas with less people. It is generally clean. There are life guards during working hours, and red flags mean do not go in the water (or go at your own risk) normally because the sea is rough. A couple nearby convenience stores offer drinks and some snacks. Some people also sell you topical food, specially Tamales. Transport can be as easy as an affordable bus from Parque Central in Habana with air-conditioning, and there are plenty of more expensive taxis.
It is very safe in general, but there is a little bit of risk if you leave your stuff unattended. Don't bring valuable stuff like your passport.

TANIA RD7 years agoTake a bus from Parque Central cost only 5CUC and the mix between Cuban people and tourist make your day more exciting and then you have to go to Las Terrazas at Ranchón Don Pepe and eat lobster or any fresh fish from the AWESOME menu.. The set of artists that entertains with wonderful local Cuban music is amazing and super nice ...congratulations to all members for make my day more fun and wonderful!!!
