Chrystus z Hawany

The Christ of Havana is a monumental marble sculpture standing on the hill of La Cabaña, offering breathtaking views of the bay and the city.

This 20-meter statue, made of white Carrara marble, was created by Cuban sculptor Jilma Madera in 1958.

According to local legends, Christ's right hand symbolizes a cigar and his left hand a mojito, paying homage to popular Cuban symbols. The statue's empty eyes give the impression that it is watching all who look at it.
