Description
Park Maksimir is an oasis of peace and history in the heart of Zagreb. Founded in 1787, it is the oldest public park in the city and one of the first in southeastern Europe.
On 316 hectares you'll find English gardens, wide promenades, five picturesque lakes and lush meadows. The park impresses with its 19th-century buildings, including Bishop Haulik's Villa, St. George's Chapel and the 12-sided Echo Pavilion.
For nature lovers, there are about 100 species of birds and a zoo with daily feeding shows for seals, otters and piranhas. An ideal place for a family picnic or a quiet stroll amidst history and nature.
