Description
The Museum of Antioquia is the oldest and most prestigious museum in Medellín, housing over 5,000 works of art in a spectacular Art Deco building dating from 1937.
The collection includes pre-Columbian artifacts, colonial and contemporary art, with a special focus on the works of Fernando Botero, Colombia's most recognizable artist. The building itself is a masterpiece with eleven monumental frescoes by Pedro Nel Gómez.
Adjacent to the museum is Plaza Botero with 23 monumental bronze sculptures.
